Artist Lori Kella is helping people to eat local. Through her website, www.grow.cook.collinwood.com the community is invited to submit their favorite recipes that feature local food. The project is about more than eating local and healthy, it is about connecting community.

Kella is a professional artist who hopes to create a portrait of the neighborhood, its growers, and the delicious recipes. The website features seasonal recipes submitted by residents, photos of local gardens and gardeners, as well as a blog with photo essays and stories from the neighborhood. Ultimately, she will create a recipe book available for purchase to the community.

Kella is partnering with Ballot Box Project winner, Kevin Scheuring, the “Spice hound” representing the Coit Road Farmers Market. During his August 25th food show, Kella will be handing out and sampling one of the recipes. This event is certain to draw a crowd as they will learn cooking techniques and enjoy a community meal.
