Joel Slayton, Executive Director of ZERO1, updates us on his team's activities:

Hot Topic: Social Innovation

Last week staff from ZERO1 could be found everywhere from ConvergeUS to the PSFK and GIA conferences; wherever we went the theme was about social innovation. From bringing technology, nonprofit, and government sectors together in order to spark that innovation to exploring the idea of a consumer revolution that demands that companies do better for our kids, for the planet, for each other; the message was compelling.

More than that, it drove home the knowledge that we’re on the right path with the ZERO1 Garage ― where principles of artistic creativity are applied to real world innovation challenges.  Now more than ever, people are demanding more, voting with their dollars, and speaking out about what they want.

The knowledge that if things don’t change, we might not survive into the next century is palpable.  It’s time for radical creativity. At ZERO1, we believe that art at the frontier of technology broadens our critical understanding of the world by provoking new ideas, experimentation, and creative strategies. Finding ourselves with others seeking to spark innovative change, is exactly what it’s all about.
