Updates
While engaging our families, youth, community partners and local businesses in open conversation about the use of the space in Hyde Park, the Art House has been established as the go-to spot in the neighborhood. It has been recognized as a place for cultural arts programming and a space for individuals to gather with friends, explore through arts and engage with individuals with artistic cultural backgrounds.

Rebuild Foundation, St. Louis offers an Open Studio every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the Hyde Park community is invited to participate in arts based programming. This has made the Art House a hub for creative activity through interactions with individuals from all walks of life. Rebuild Foundation has built partnerships with local arts organizations that have referred teaching artists who enjoy working with our neighbors. Open Studio has also brought out local artists who live in the Hyde Park community and has given them the opportunity to share their art with and to connect with our neighbors.

Recent Wins
1. Being a good neighbor is something that resonates very strongly with Rebuild Foundation. Recently through Open Studio we have learned that there are emerging artists located in the Hyde Park. We have since tried to pair them with more established artists. We believe this would give the emerging artists additional resources and a platform in which they can be confident about their work.

2. Part of being a good neighbor is supporting the businesses in the area. We typically have meetings at locales near Rebuild Foundation, such as a local restaurant in the neighborhood. Artists have now identified Cornerstone Café as a great place to gather and eat. This relationship fostered by Rebuild Foundation exemplifies a good neighbor.

Insight/Provocation
For us, placemaking is about our everyday interactions with the Hyde Park community, and much of the work we do happens organically. When we talk with our neighbors, they share ideas and thoughts about what they want to see in their community. We create a safe space for them to share and implement their ideas. To have individuals in the community who want to see their neighborhood thrive and grow and who look to Rebuild Foundation as a partner is rewarding for us but most importantly, empowers them to move forward.
