Bastrop, TX is located in a county that is experiencing a renaissance in celebrating its local art and history in the wake of devastating wildfires that roared through the town in 2011. Balstrop currently has a dead zone between its bustling downtown and a new convention center. The Bastrop Fine Arts Guild is proposing to create the Lost Pines Art Center and Sculpture Garden on the site of a 100-year-old cotton seed mill. The proposal would rearrange and repurpose the historic buildings on the mill site into gallery, classroom, studio, and sculpture garden space to create a vibrant destination that would also serve as a connection between two vibrant centers.
