2017 ANNUAL ARTPLACE SUMMIT VIDEO ARCHIVE
In 2017 we  gathered our remarkable community of colleagues working on creative placemaking projects across the United States for our Annual ArtPlace Summit. The Summit took place in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest gave us a beautiful backdrop to hear from national and local leaders on some of the most pressing issues facing our communities, including immigration, housing, environment, and the rural urban cultural divide. An exploratory first step that aims to: examine key goals or needs in each community development sector that arts and culture might address, atypology or framework for understanding the ways that arts and culture has and might partner with that community development sector,barriers to integrating arts and culture within that community development sector, and strategies or tactics to advance collaborations with arts and culture in that sector.

Knight Soul of the Community

KNIGHT SOUL OF THE COMMUNITY
A 3-year study conducted by Gallup that determined that social offerings, openness, and aesthetics were three of the most important factors that drive community attachment. These factors provided new ways cities could build community engagement, thereby increasing attachment to place, and strengthening communities.

This was the first white paper by Anne Markusen and Anne Gadwa to say that Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired.
