The Cedar Rapids Gazette just published a great story by on our alley project that featured a big photo of her on the front page! Take a sneak peek of her stainless steel gateway feature now being fabricated in her welding studio (AKA her one-stall garage).

On July 13, Cara Farmer and Karen Hoyt (Art Director) teamed up as presenters for “1M Cups” in Cedar Rapids. It was exciting to network with 40-50 local entrepreneurs! Thanks to Sarah Binder and her team for extending the invitation – they have done great work promoting Iowa’s Creative Corridor. With our alley project coming to fruition in the months ahead, the City of Marion will be ready to partner with Cedar Rapids and Iowa City in helping to make Eastern Iowa a destination for public art.

A time-lapse YouTube video of construction work in the alleys is being produced as an in-kind contribution by Phil and Ben High of Philips Diamond Shop in Marion. Many thanks to this talented father/son team! Watching heavy machinery go back and forth and umbrellas go up and down is even more fun than watching corn grow here in Iowa!
