A series of short documentaries chronicling four of the grantees around the country were commissioned: Urban Bush Women in Brooklyn, NY; The Nickelodeon Theater in Columbia, SC; the Montana Arts Council; and Los Cenzontles in San Pablo, CA. The first and last videos in this six-part series explore the vision and premises of this groundbreaking project in cultural philanthropy.

A case study on a town suffering from the effects of jobs losses and outmigration that occurred when labor intensive farming transitioned to the machine. A theater project has led to purported claims of community revitalization, new relationships, personal empowerment; the coproduction of an emerging and diverse community identity; and institutional and economic development.

Doing well and doing good by doing art

DOING WELL AND DOING GOOD BY DOING ART
Are there connections between involvement in arts learning and general academic success? In 2009, this researcher analyzed ten additional years of NELS data related to the previously studied students, then age 26. The results strongly connect arts learning with both general academic success and pro-social outcomes (i.e., outcomes such as volunteerism, involvement in the community, or civic participation).
