With funding from ArtPlace America, Roosevelt Row Community Development Corporation (CDC) took creative placemaking to a whole new level in the Roosevelt Row arts district. The funds from ArtPlace supported three major initiatives focused on creating new opportunities for engagement and participation in the district. The initiatives included 1) “Feast on the Street,” a free public art event in partnership with the ASU Art Museum and artists Clare Patey (London) and Matthew Moore (Phoenix), 2) a community visioning process, and 3) A.R.T.S. Village, a project activating vacant land through the adaptive re-use of shipping containers.

The inaugural Feast on the Street brought the Roosevelt Row arts community and friends together around a half-mile long dining table in downtown Phoenix, transforming First Street into a pedestrian promenade in celebration of food and art in the desert. This free public event was a community project initiated by the ASU Art Museum and the Desert Initiative, Roosevelt Row CDC and the artists Clare Patey and Matt Moore.  The significant, inaugural downtown event brought together more than 9,000 new visitors to the area, receiving national and international attention to the growing downtown Phoenix community, allowing newcomers to experience the power of partnership.

The “A.R.T.S. Village” – an adaptive reuse of temporary space consisting of shipping container studios, performance space, and a new urban market garden – a central space of gathering, created to provide a vision for the future development of the district and new streetscape design guidelines to visually define the area. This villiage is in the heart of the district and hosts major events for the community, supports local artists, and provides a value to a once blighted, under-utilized plot of vacant land.
Lastly, Roosevelt Row CDC created historical visioning publication, titled "Roosevelt Row Artists' District: Creative Placemaking in Downtown Phoenix", highlighting the community's accomplishments and vision for downtown in the immediate and long-term future, thanks to the feedback of many stakeholders, committees, and residents. Roosevelt Row CDC has been instrumental in leveraging creative placemaking in downtown Phoenix. New and reoccurring visitors continue to fuel this ongoing process of placemaking and come to experience this dynamic, downtown urban scene. The book illustrated how the community emerged through the sweat-equity of artists, during a season of blight, transforming Roosevelt Row into a vibrant community filled with art-focused restaurants, galleries, shops, boutiques and creative events.
