Updates
As we enter 2014, Destination Frankford is kicking it into high gear. Six months of behind the scenes planning will be revealed to the community as we select a final design for the Womrath Park Gateway Sculpture and plan, together with the community, for new Frankford signage.

January is all about the Womrath Park Gateway Sculpture. On January 27th, the five finalists for the Womrath Park Gateway Sculpture will present their designs to our Jury and the Frankford Community. (Check out our artist profiles here.) Shortly thereafter, a final design will be chosen; installation is planned for fall 2014.

February is the month where we plan to choose a design firm or team for our Identity Signage project. We do not yet know what form the signs will take as we have a limited budget for this project. We do know that we want a design package that is replicable as more funding becomes available in the future.

Recent Wins
We are continuing our effort to re-brand Frankford as a place to “Make your Future.” Through our blog and social media accounts, we hope to shift people’s perceptions of Frankford and what it has to offer the City. To build on our strong online presence, we are in the process of designing postcards featuring our logo on one side and images of Frankford’s artists and artisans making great things on the other. There will be a series of these cards so that people can collect the whole set.

Insight/Provocation
We are wrestling with how to measure success. For example, how do we measure people’s perceptions of a place? Since we have yet to build anything (sculpture, signage) or open our pop-up shop, how can we be sure that we are making a difference? For now, our only metric is social media interaction and traffic on our web site. To that end, we have been toying with Facebook’s many options for boosting the visibility of posts. Of our three social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), Facebook, by a wide margin, is driving the most traffic to our website and its blog.
