Crossing Art Gallery

Last month, QAX’s blog entry took you to the emerging art scene in Long Island City, which is the first stop off the 7 train’s “International Express”. This month, we’re highlighting the final stop off the No. 7 to tell you about Flushing’s Crossing Art Gallery.

By bringing artistic interest to a neighborhood known more for its global cuisine and culture, Crossing Art has been committed to being more than a place to see a painting.

Crossing Art is a venue where collectors, institutions, corporations and community members can participate in an interactive exchange with art. From public art projects to events, panel talks and performances, all of the gallery’s wide range of activities keeps the local community engaged and raises the attention of collectors worldwide.

Crossing Art participated in the 2010 QAX Festival and featured the solo show, Joshua Spodek: Motion in Stillness, a striking series of linear zoetropes. The astrophysicist turned entrepreneur turned artist received extensive press coverage from the Queens Ledger and The QNote, and many more.

Added to the reception of Spodek’s work was the gallery’s notice of increased foot traffic to the gallery –  and that is the main objective of QAX’s community partnerships – increasing interest, artistic growth and community participation in our borough’s creative hubs.

Read more about Crossing Art’s exhibitions as well as their participation in the 2011 Curate NYC. And be sure to check them out during QAX 2012!
