Art & Ag ProjectYolo County, CA
YoloCounty artists and farmers are still aglow from the huge success of our fourth annual Art Farm. With over 275 guests – 49 of them choosing to ‘harvest’ art off the gallery’s walls.
This year was the best Art Farm yet and I feel like we are really on the map as a “must-attend” cultural event in Yolo County. What I am really happy about is the number of farmers who attended. And it was especially gratifying to see one of them purchase a painting of their farm and then turn around and meet the artist who painted it!
The best feedback came from my friend Sharon who texted me at the end of the night. “That was a wonderful event you all put together. It had a wonderful feel and was the “the place to be” in Yolo county tonight. I love my art.” Sharon was the lucky harvester of Yolo Artist – Paula Bellacera’s “Bee” painting coveted by many!
Everyone raved about the food vendors on the ground floor. The food display that Cache Creek Casino put together was gorgeous. And the food was delicious: beet salad, squash soup, crab chowder and gourmet ravioli. Not to mention all the other vendors with samples from their farms. And, of course, there were some of the season’s best wines to be tasted.
But, by far, the most touching comment came from Marianne Ryan, thefounding president of YoloArts. She was overcome with emotion as she told me the night was “everything I hoped YoloArts would be for the community. I just sat here tonight and listened to the sounds of all of these people and the excitement in their voices as they harvested their art. There was a feeling of community and togetherness that moved me to tears. I even recorded it on my I-phone!” Another work of art we hand not imagined….the sounds of art and farm community together.
